The Importance of (Non-Romantic) Friendships With Members of Your Gender

Sometimes, men and women are so focused on their romantic goals, they neglect to give non-romantic friendships the consciousness they deserve.

How much consciousness do you give to non-romantic friendships? More specifically, how much consciousness do you give to cultivating and enjoying friendships with members of your gender?

For example, if you are a man, to what extent do you sustain nurturing, enlivening friendships with other men? To what extent do you have close male friendships characterized by open and honest sharing?

If you are a woman, to what extent do you enjoy nurturing, enlivening friendships with other women? To what extent do you have close female friendships characterized by open and honest sharing?

Perhaps this area of your life is in good shape.

If you have neglected this area, though, you might wish to devote more consciousness to it.
