"Learning Relationships"
Mature romance is a joyful synergy between two adults whose mental, emotional, and sexual energies align, and who commit to each other in a long-term partnership. But what if, in looking for romance, we find we have a personal block in the mental, emotional, or sexual realm? If so, we may not be ready for mature romance, but we may be ripe for a "learning relationship" — that is, a relationship characterized by trust, physical intimacy, and respect — and by learning and growth for both participants. Have you ever been in such a relationship, yet doubted its value because it did not match your idea of a full-blown romance? Next time you find yourself doubting a relationship in this way, ask yourself the following questions: Am I enjoying this relationship? (And is my partner?) Am I growing in this relationship? (And is my partner?) Am I feeling nurtured in this relationship? (And is my partner?) If the answer to these questions is yes, you are in a relationship that is good for you, now. Our advice: so long as it remains good, stick with it! |
